We are a licensed advanced life support (ALS) transport ambulance service, responding to over 2,000 emergency calls a year. Over seventy volunteer members and five career staff are trained at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), or Paramedic level. Our paramedics also respond across Chittenden County when requested to support other ambulance services with their critical patients.
Our station is staffed 24/7 with at least one crew, allowing us to respond immediately to calls. If our primary crew is on a call when a second call comes in, we are often able to staff a second ambulance. When that isn't possible, the next available ambulance service responds.
Because our territory is so large
, we operate a First Response system to reduce our response time. Our members who live close to the location of a call can arrive several minutes before the ambulance an initiate life-saving care. We also partner with the Underhill Jericho Fire Department to provide a first responder position during the work week when our members are often unavailable to respond.
